Community Health Network’s sports medicine program is focused on promoting healthier lifestyles benefiting young athletes and their families through sports. Our sports medicine experts provide athletic trainers and/or physician sports medicine coverage, health education information, health screenings and access to healthcare for area schools and sports organizations.

Dr. Mary Apiafi Moore: Answering the Call
In 2006, Community Howard sports medicine physician , played for the Nigeria D'Tigresse, representing her native country in the women's basketball World Cup. Twelve years later, Dr. Moore is back with the team, this time as the interim physician. Her job is to keep players healthy as they train in Atlanta for the World Cup competition in Spain this September. Meet her and watch the team training in this video.
Shelbourne Knee Center
竞彩258平台The , Indiana’s only knee care specialty center, includes clinic, surgery, X-ray, a fully-equipped physical therapy/rehabilitation gym, and research. Orthopedic surgeons and have years of experience treating professional, college, high school, and recreational athletes. Dr. Shelbourne provided sports coverage to the Indianapolis Colts from 1984 to 1998, and both Dr. Shelbourne and Dr. Benner currently serve as orthopedic consultants to Purdue 竞彩258平台 and Wabash College.
Dr. Shelbourne pioneered the contralateral ACL reconstruction technique and developed the Accelerated ACL Reconstruction Rehabilitation Protocol used around the world. This advancement in treatment offers patients the ability to rehabilitate their knee faster with more predictable results. Thousands of patients have undergone this procedure and most athletes return to their sport by 5-6 months after surgery.
